Honor

  • Warning, this article is very outdated and contains inaccurate information regarding honor. In the current game, the only thing that affects honor is the number of battles you have won.**

One of the features of Shogun wars is the ranking of "Honor", which was a vital concept of everyday life in the real shogun times.

  • Next to 'User Info' you can see the honor badge of that player. In your own 'command center' you can see your honor badge. When you click on your honor badge, you can see a list of your honorable and dishonorable acts.
  • The honor badge has a white background for honorable shoguns High (positive) Honor , and a black one for dishonorable shoguns Low (negative) Honor.
  • The honor badge has The kanji symbol. There are 13 strokes in the kanji symbol. Strokes are based on battles won and nothing else.
  • "It takes a thousand honorable deeds to gain a good reputation. It takes only one to mar honor forever." So dishonorable actions are far more dishonorable then honorable actions are honorable. Therefore one dishonorable action can really stain hard.
  • Honor is cumulative. Every action you performs either lessens (blackens) or heightens (whitens) your honor. Your honor is the sum of your actions.
  • Honor is also relative. It measures up in comparison to other player's honor. So while you may be very honorable at one moment, if you don't `rank` up, you may end up with little honor relatively.

Effects of Honor:

  • People want to work for Honorable Shoguns (with white backgrounds). They gain extra Peasants each day.
  • People do not want to work for Dishonorable Shoguns (with black backgrounds). They lose Peasants each day.
  • The amount of peasants lost is based on how dishonorable the shogun is (how dark his background is). More strokes in his Kanji symbol means less loses, though.
  • The amount of Peasants lost to all dishonorable shoguns is divided between the honorable ones, based on how bright their background is and how many strokes they have in the Kanji symbol. More strokes means more Peasants gained.
  • You don't have to have a black background to be in the bottom of your bracket. You just have to have less honor than most people who have the same number of strokes.
If you have a single blemish on your otherwise spotless record, you may have a background that appears to be fully white but isn't.
If most of the people with the same number of strokes as you have fully white backgrounds, and yours is only nearly white, you are in the bottom of your class and will lose peasants nightly.
