Changes this season.

April 1st, 2010   (2742 views )

Well, the new season starts tomorrow.. and it should be an interesting one.

First, I've cleaned up the forums. Taken off little used topic areas and condensed things.

Second, I've always taken a lot of heat for the officer system in the game. Lately I've been wondering if perhaps I dismissed these suggestions a little too quickly, so I've decided to change things up and see what happens.

For the moment, the officer bonuses for both nightly and upgrades have been removed.

If this concerns you, have no worries, all officers and referrals are still stored and tracked in the database. After this initial trial, I'll re-evaluate and see how the old system(s) should be reinstated in full or in part. In the meantime, let's see what happens when everyone is on equal footing from start to finish.

With doing that I would suggest one thing. Double up turn speed. In the past, it took forever for upgrades, especially with no officers. Now the game will become unbearable long, and victory will always go to whoever puts in the most time. So to spare everyone who has still stuck by that headache, cut it all in half. 15 minute turns, and a 2 month age. Hopefully at the end of this experiment, you still have willing players.

should consider removing the 1pt bank cost, similar to phoenix... without officer bonus, those who arent team-oriented will have no incentive to bank others

The change is most welcome.
Everybody are equal.
No point in having 15 and 20 officers, to have an advantage.
Now a paid account really makes the only difference in peasants.
I think that now it's worth it, and more people will purchase one.
Keep it going.

"victory will always go to whoever puts in the most time"

As well it should. I for one; can see that it is difficult now to do all the upgrades and you must work hard and plan your moves and your game; as well as put in the time.

everyone is not equal. People are getting additional peasants somehow... dont know what sus has left in, but you cant compete with people who have that advantage.

I have almost 300 peasants. I just spied on a couple of people who have 600. they are at the same unit production as me... in order to get 600 peasants they at 40 a day it would have been atleast 14 days to get there.... today is day 8

definately need to either drop the bonuses or have them going to commanders who spend their attack turns banking others... the referal thing doesnt work so well as the only bonus available

on a side note, i would like to see you adjust the % gained for seige and fortification. seems to me that defense should be at a considerable advantage. it is common knowlege that you needed a 3:1 advantage to sucessfully assault a fortified position where no flanking is possible, and assuming military technology being equal on both sides... the entire point to building fortifications(walls, castles, forts, moats, etc.) is to give defense an advantage... in this game you need more defenders at top end to stop fewer attackers, because of the % gained setup

TAKE A LOOK AT THE NEW PLAYERS WHO CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME FRAME AND TELL ME THAT THIS IS NOT SOMEONE'S REFERRALS JUST FOR PEASANTS!
